India invited Buddhist refuges from Tibet to set up their monasteries in India. There are a couple of tens of thousands of Tibetans living in the area around the monastery. The place is stunning and the people are extremely gracious to visitors. You can stay there very cheaply, if you want. This particular monastery is called Namdroling.
